Posted March 02, 2020 14:01:51Walmart is preparing to launch a new mobile application to help filmmakers create films, and it wants you to be able to get the same experience without the need to sign up for a paid subscription.
The new app, called Cinema Mobile, will be available for download in March, with the first movie coming out in April, with plans to add additional titles in the coming weeks.
“Our goal with Cinema Mobile is to bring cinema to everyone,” said Marc Wojciechowski, Walmart’s chief creative officer.
“We are committed to bringing our customers the best and most personalized cinema experience.
We are also excited to be working with industry partners to create content that truly represents the brands, brands and consumers we represent.”
The app, which is being developed by Wojcykowski’s studio, will allow consumers to set their own pricing and set up viewing times, and provide access to film reviews and other helpful features.
It will also allow filmmakers to upload their own trailers.
“The Cinema Mobile platform allows filmmakers to create and share their films, creating an interactive experience that will be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances,” Wojchowski said.
“There are many exciting opportunities in the industry right now.
The Cinema Mobile app will help filmmakers bring their work to life in the most efficient way possible.”
Cinema Mobile will be the latest step in Walmart’s efforts to bring its services to more consumers, and to make the retail giant a more relevant force in the film industry.
Walmart has been working with cinemas for several years to develop a more efficient and cost-effective way to deliver its movie service.
Walmart has recently made significant investments in its theatrical distribution network, which has grown from $3.7 billion in 2016 to more than $6 billion in 2019.
Walmart is also looking to build its own video content distribution network.
Its recent expansion of its retail store network, known as Walmart Express, has helped drive an increase in moviegoers to its local stores, and its film distribution network is expected to grow even more in the future.
Wojcicowski said Walmart’s Cinemas Mobile will not be a substitute for an existing subscription service, but it will allow the company to keep its customers on the same footing as its retail network and its movie-on-demand service.
“Cinemas Mobile is the best way to ensure that filmmakers can have a seamless and fun experience with their films,” he said.
